Popup Variables

QWAdmin Help Files

A P-popup type variable is used to provide a list of valid selections for a particular question or prompt.  Once the answer is chosen it is stored in the P-popup variable field.

The list of selections available in a popup is pre-defined and the user can select only from the list presented.  The list of valid selections are stored in Popup files (.QPT,QPI,QPD) that are created and maintained in QWAdmin under the Popups option.

Length of Variable - the value you enter here is dependant on the number of Popup levels used and the length of the Popup Fields selected.  QW displays the Popup Levels on the left end of the P-popup variable and the Popup Fields information after it with a dash (-) as a separator.  So to determine the Length of  the variable you must count 2 for each Popup Level plus 1 for the dash separator and then the length of the Popup Fields.

Popup File Name is used to identify which Popup Selection File you wish to use for this Popup variable.  Clicking the down arrow will open a list of available Popup Selection Files.  Use the Up and Down arrow keys to position the highlighted cursor and press the Enter key to select that file.

The Number of Questins to Ask prompt is used to indicate the number of levels or questions that are to be asked in the P-popup variable.  Clicking the down arrow will open a list of available number of questions or levels that are available in a Popup Selection file.  The highest number available in the window should be selected when defining a P-popup variable.  This will ensure that all questions for a Popup Selection file will be presented or asked.

Which Field to Display in Popup is used to select which Popup Fields data you wish to display as the available selections for a P-popup variable.  Clicking the down arrow will open a list of available Popup Fields for the selected Popup Selection File.  Use the Up and Down arrow keys to position the highlighted cursor and press the Enter key to select that file.
